1958 ford 801d 5 speed clutch ?

I was looking at clutches for tractor 801. It lists a single and a double clutch kit which would mine have. There is a big $ diffrence.

Which model do you have?? The 801 is the series and there where 2 models with the 5 speed. The 851 which does not have live PTO and the 861 which has the 2 stage clutch and live PTO.

You also need to know what center spline your tractor has if you have a 851, they changed that in 1958. Single clutch is in a 851 but a double clutch is in a 861, all are part of the 801 series of tractors, you need to check what is stamped on your trans. housing next to the serial# or take apart first.

If i push clutch pedal down pto does not stop and halfway down pto still spins..#861-D,43515 diamond sideways. Do those # make sense. Some of the casting is detereated

861 should be a 2 stage clutch and sounds like you have the PTO clutch that is stuck to the flywheel so you need to put a 2 stage type clutch back in

the two stage is stuck and not working properly . I was for sure that 6 was a 0 wrong again with a little more wire brushing. Pedal half way down tractor stops pto still runs . Clutch pedal all the way down pto and tractor stop. Is that how 2 stage should work.

That is exactly how a 2 stage clutch should work. That gives you live PTO which is why it is called a Live PTO set up. You can stop and shaft gears and yet have the PTO spinning which makes mowing or hay baling etc easier

Do you think if i work the tractor pto clutch will break loose.or is it just worn out. Or could it be out of adjustment . iam i pipe dreaming

Seen more then one over the year free up by using them. Common for most any tractor clutch to rust to the flywheel or pressure plate and cause problem but by using them have them free up
