Ford 3000 fuel pump leaking

Nothing like a new tractor(1973) to keep you busy. Today I found that there is gas leaking from my fuel pump. It is not the lines, looks like it is coming from the pump. I'd like to tighten the screws on the pump, but I can't get my hand in there. The generator is in the way as well as the fan housing. To make it more fun, this tractor has a front loader on it that is not making it easy . Looking for some advise, I am guessing that I have to pull the generator out of the way to get to the fuel pump. Is there another way?

bite the bullet and pull the hood off... service or replace the fuel pump. You can get a rebuild kit or a new pump. Otherwise you will be doing the impossible.

Sotxbill, thanks for the info. Are you saying that if I pull the hood off ( the side with the latches and the other side) that I should be able to get to the fuel pump without pulling the generator? I would rather do the hood than the generator, looks like less work. I have already ordered a new fuel pump and will replace the pump when I get it. I have bought every manual I can find for this tractor and none of them say anything about how you gain access to the fuel pump.

Update- pulled hood, pretty easy, made things easier to see, but did not help. Pulled generator, still could not get to the fuel lines and bolts on the fuel pump. Pulled nose and would have pulled radiator but could not get bolts out at bottom of radiator. Was able to buy some short ratcheting box wrenches and they enabled me to change the (gas) fuel pump. There was nothing fun about this job. At last , new pump is in and not leaking.

Clean it up before you reinstall the hood. I always use new bolts and nuts on the hood so next time will be easier. Changing out the starter the first couple of times is also a challenge but after that it gets easy.

On that tractor.. the positive battery cable will crack and start a fire where it rubs against sharp metal in the routing down to the selonoid. So take an old hose, split it and tie wrap it over the positive battery cable. If that cable is cracking at all, replace it.

Enjoy the tractor.

Can you tell me anything about the lower radiator bolts? I could not get these out. Parts breakdown shows that they are carriage bolts, all I could get them to do was turn but nuts would not come off. Can I cut these off and replace them to get the radiator out? I can't picture what could be holding the heads of these bolts.
Thanks for the tips and help here. This tractor is sure a step up from my 9N.
