Howdy. I'm looking for or looking for info on a 961 row crop power steering cylinder for my uncle. His has been through a fire. I would like to know about rebuilding it or finding a replacement. I remember something about cutting it apart? Enlighten me fellers please. I'm a Massey guy. Don't hold it against me.

They need to be cut open to replace the rod if the chrome is worn off and pits are tearing up the seal. You may get a used one that needs only a new seal.

Has anyone had any luck getting a seal for the cylinder or the control valve seals somewhere other than
new holland? Looked yesterday and the cylinder seal kit was around $125 and the control valve was $70. I
think I have found some other options but haven't tried them yet. Just wondering if anyone else has
tried.

(quoted from post at 14:15:13 06/25/15) He ended up buying a used one fro Wenger's of Myers town. Thanks.

Brendon, check the rod for him. They tend to wear on the underside at mid point. The chrome can wear away leaving the bare steel to rust. I tried a quick and dirty fix on one. I cleaned it real well, then put epoxy on, then smoothed it out. It has been about three years.
