I just bought a ford 600 everything was fine till I got it home and started mowing the pasture then it started missing and bogging down. It starts right up but still misses unless I leave it to cool down, than it will run good again for a while any ideas that might help

1, when it bogs down, does choke help?

2, what are your gauges telling you?

3, have you checked for tank vacume?

4, when it bogs, what's the sediment bowl look like?

5, have you checked fuel flow?

6, have you checked spark when it stalls?

just as soon as it starts missing, cutting out: turn motor off, quickly jump off and slowly open the fuel tank cap, listen closely for the sound of vacuum suction of air entering tank.

the fuel tank (vented) cap, may have gotten plugged up, if this happens, as the motor pulls fuel from the tank, it will create a vacuum in the tank and this vacuum in the tank will stop the flow of fuel to the carb. If you let the tractor set for a while, air will slowly re-enter the tank and it will run again for a while. your gas tractor must have a vented fuel tank cap!!!!
have you bought a new fuel tank cap lately???? you must check it and be sure its vented.

If this is not the problem, then check your coil, I have had a bad coil in the past, tractor starts and runs good, but after the coil gets hot and expands, the broken wire inside the coil will separate and the motor will die.

however, this one is easy to check, when tractor stops running, pull a plug wire, attach it to an extra sparkplug, turn over motor, if no fire to plug, then probably a bad coil. If you have fire to the plug, then you have some other problem.

these are just two easy ones to trace down, from here on out, it gets harder to trace down a problem that only happens after the motor quits after an hr running.

it is some times hard to find this problem.

one time I just could not trace the problem, so I just started and replace the electrical components, full tune up and the problem when away. so one item was bad.

another thing to check is the fuel tank itself, most fuel tank cut off valves have screens sticking up into the tank as they suck fuel about 1"+ off the bottom of the tank, you could have debris in your tank and it is getting into you cutoff valve inlet stopping the flow of fuel.
could pull the plug out of the bottom of the carb and see if you have a good flow of fuel.

so many things could cause this problem

let us know what you find.

Got it turned the thumb screw counter clockwise on the top of the carb straightened right out wouldn't start today till I turned it half way back to where it was originally but started there thanks for the help from ya all don't know what I did but it worked
