Ford 6000 6cyl Diesel

I am restoring a Ford 6000 Diesel. This is the old 6000 with a 6 cylinder engine. Can anyone tell where I can find pistons? Gaskets? valves? I can make any oversize (or STD) work. Thanks, Bruce

A few of the gaskets are still available from New Holland. I know the head gasket was when I checked for one of ours. Some things can be used from a 223 gas engine from your local parts store. I was able get a side cover gasket from oreillys around here. I'm not sure about valves and pistons haven't needed any yet. Can your valves be ground? Might be easier than finding new ones. Pistons might be hard to get new. Sometimes there are used parts on eBay. A guy in Michigan seems to part one out every once in a while. I've gotten a couple things off him. If you need some info or help my email is open. We've got 6 of the old dogs. I think we're one of the few who like them!!

If you can't find pistons there are machine shops around the country that make new pistons for you but not cheap.

Try talking with a good automotive machine shop. They can reference all the parts by dimension and specs as opposed to by brand and may be able to pull them off the shelf for you. My 960 had valves that were badly recessed and the shop came up with Chevy valves to fit. They can often come up with the right parts within a working range, and then machine your block and head to meet the replacement parts.

Hi
I asked the specialist tractor motor shop i used until they retired last year( 50 years in business) about this type motor, when I was thinking of buying a non runner in a sale 10 years ago. He said back then most of the parts for that motor were hard to find. He had no sources then, from the many old guys he knew in the trade for years, with old stock or from modern suppliers. From what he said it was an old English diesel that wasn't very popular in the day. unlike the 330 360 and 380 diesels from England that was fitted to way more things.
you got to hope the golden hoard turns up or ebay I guess.
Had the same problem with a head gasket for a Gas 52 Major the diesel one doesn't fit. 3 sets on ebay in the last 10 or so years and I now own 1 set i got from Cyprus last year.
Good luck this might get expensive or be a long term project.
Regards Robert
