Ford 6600 rotary CAV injection pump leak

Guys, I need some help. I've got a Ford 6600 with the rotary CAV style injection pump. It has developed a serious leak from somewhere around the bottom of the injection pump. I suspect the gasket at the connection between the automatic advance device and the body of the pump but I can't be sure. Does anyone have experience with these pumps?

I have only a little experience with one. Mine leaked around the throttle and shutoff shafts. Each has 2 o-rings. You have to take the cover off to replace them. Carefully open the cover and look inside at the location of both ends of the spring coming from the throttle shaft to the internal shaft as this sets the maximum speed of the engine. Get a good sealant for putting it back together as there is no gasket on the cover.

Thanks for the input. I did some THOROUGH work on the pump this morning and discovered it is NOT leaking from the bottom but from the paper gasket between the top and body of the pump. The O rings seem fine. It occurs to me that it might have vibrated loose so I'm going to try snugging things up first. I'll post when I've learned more.

Have been working on several makes/models of pumps for years, I'd recommend a complete tear down and reseal the complete pump. I've seen to many too many times one leak fixed, then another shows up shortly after and it ends up needing gone through anyway..

OK: I dug into it today and found a video on Youtube that was very clear: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTyqaMYbYyg). I took some notes, bought a gasket and four O-rings, and went at it. It was pretty easy except getting the spring re-attached to the governor/throttle linkage and even that was not bad. My wife helped me by putting a finger on the little pin/spring the video mentions to keep it from flying off when the spring slipped out of the grasp of my needle-nose pliers (if you ever do this, you'll find out what I mean). The only other issue to be careful of is the kill linkage: It is oriented so make sure you get it back together correctly and double-check by operating the pull linkage while you lift the lid slightly. Otherwise, you might not be able to shut off the engine and have to put it in high gear, hold the brakes, and pop the clutch to stall it...and then go do what I just mentioned.

The gasket and new o-rings did the trick - leak is fixed. Something else might leak down the road but the BIG leak is fixed.

TTFN.

I just noticed that this clunky forum system put my final post out of order. YT: You oughta find another forum software vendor...this stuff is as old as my tractors.

Are you using classic view or modern view for the forum? Classic view tries to show you who responded to whom in a tree like format from the main forum page, but it looks jumbled up when you open a thread and try to go through it, but modern view just shows all posts in chronological order.
