I am looking at putting rings in my early 4000,It has good oil pressure so Im hoping to get by with just rings. Question is where is the best place to buy these and what few gaskets I will need? Thanks and have a great day> Roger

If the cylinders have a lot of wear and a big ridge at the top of each sleeve new rings are not likely to help much if any unless you have it miked and then get over size ring that are correct

Thanks old, I dont have it apart yet. It is smoking pretty bad and using oil if you pull it hard.

Back when I was a machinist, we always told people not to buy parts until you see what you have. It could be rings, or guides, or seals, but until it's apart, you are guessing, and to go through that much labor without refreshing everything seems pointless. Or, do a blow test and try locating the problem.

I would take it a part before I ordered anything. my 9n smoked when I got it. I tore it down to replace the rings. Found the #3 piston had a broken ring that messed up the sleeve. The piston was fine. I bought one sleeve and a ring set.
