8n no spark

Easy way to figure out where a wiring problem is, is to hot wire it. Simply run a wire from the ignition side of the battery to the ignition side of the coil and check for spark. If you now have spark then the problem is from the coil back. If no spark then your problem is in the distributor and likely the points need cleaned or replaced. Point gap should be 0.025 by the way

Even the coil wire was missing the ends...... I usually work on Minnies, sadly, this poor little tractor has had too many people tinkering with it. When I'm done, it will be right and good for another 50 years..... They say it always needed to be choked to start..... Think the intake vlaves are out of adjustment?

Not uncommon to have the choke one to get it to start. Could have a bit of a clog in the carb or the main jet set to lean either will cause it to need choked to start. As for that coil wire seen that many times over the years
