NAA carb replacement

Well I thought I was doing good by changing the fuel filter on the carb, not the case. Just when I put the wrench on it to tighten it, the top casting of the carb around the threaded hole broke into two pieces. Now I'm in the market for a carb to replace a tsx 428. Has anyone used the one from this site? Looking for suggestions. Thanks

at the risk of having you bidding against me.......
When you see a 428, be aggressive, they are getting a little tough to find.
I saw that auction (ended last night?) and was considering
bidding just for a spare.
It actually went for less than I expected.....if it actually was a 428.

for now, how bad is yours?
I've 'fixed' many carbs broke at the inlet with a pipe fitting and epoxy.
Then never touch it again. The pipe fitting is now part of the carb.
adapt the line to work with the new positioning.

I have a 428 that was fixed with epoxy like this too, except
whoever did mine epoxied the elbow strainer into it.
I was afraid of making it worse, so I have left it alone, even
when I rebuilt the carb. I figure if it ever plugs up I'll take it out.
It was that way when I bought the tractor four years ago.

Thank The Lord for the old timers that saved everything. There is a guy about 10 miles from my house that is a x mark dealer and also deals in
used 3 point implements. He always has a bunch of junk laying around, well he had a tsx 428 laying on the shelf also. $65 dollars and an hour
later the tractor was up and running again. Sometimes the squirrel does find the nut.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Zenith carbs. I run one on my Jubilee. Awesome.

As I'm from the "Two is one, one is none" school of thought, my spare Jubilee carb is - - - a Zenith. Saw it for sale on eBAY listed as a 8N carb. Recognized it as for a Jubilee and snagged it for cheap.

I understand if you want strict originality and only a 428 will do. My 8N is all original, and I like it that way, but the Jubilee is running a Delco alternator at 12v, and the Zenith.

I would have taken a zenith if it was available. I just didn't want to buy a new one made in China,Taiwan,Mexico or India. What is the number on
the zenith that replaces the tsx 428?

"I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Zenith carbs."

The Zeniths work well when they're working and they last
pretty well too. Although they can be touchy to adjust.

The problem, in my experience, is that you can't get parts
to repair them like you can for the Marvel Scheblers.

I rebuilt the one on my brother's Case SC a month or so ago.
I couldn't even get jets for it. I bored some M/S jets and
made them work. So far so good.

Royse,

Steiner sells a kit to refurb the NAA replacement Zenith (13789). $26 or so for the economy kit, and $54 for the complete kit.

No dog in this fight - I don't own Zenith stock!

You think it was only a buck, but the other guy only went as far as he had to. He might have been in it for a whole lot more.....
