Not mine, no connection and out of my price range.
Sure is pretty though! 860 on CL

Nice, it is Purdy, I liked the way Ford painted their tractors during those years.

Would it have come with a double clutch, since it has the 5 speed transmission?

Also, should it have a rear work light?

The restorer knows his Fords! I can't pick out a single thing wrong with the finish. There is paint where it is supposed to be and not where it should not be. It even looks like the clamp holding the coil is black as it should be.

very nice
had a 55 860 a few years back, can't beat em.
Local small farmer needed it badly one year for his hay.
His trade offer was just too good to turn down.
.....looking back (which I try to never do)
I should have kept it.........................

If you are wanting to be correct, where is the rest-o-ride seat? The air-precleaner was not a factory option

Not all 5 speeds had the double clutch. The models with a 5 as the middle digit (650, 651, 850, 851, etc.) did not have the double clutch or live PTO. The models that had a 6 as the middle digit (660, 661, 860, 861, etc.) did have live PTO with the double clutch.

I thought that precleaner was the rare and much sought after snorkel option - for rice paddy and kelp work.
I agree it's very nice but for that price it should be an 860 and have PS.

I believe that seat was standard on an 860 and the rest-o-ride seat was an option.

The air pre-cleaner was not a factory option, but if it was installed by the dealer before it was sold new then it is as the original owner first bought it.

It is an 860. And being a 1955 specimen with serial number 0085, power steering was not an option at the time that it was made.

I think that the restoration was intended to make it as close as possible to how it was configured when it was bought new, and the seller might be the original owner and would know how it was configured. That's probably why it has the air pre-cleaner as well.

Unless someone wants a parade queen and doesn't want to do the restoration work themselves, then he's not likely to get his asking price though.

Wait.....coil clamp is supposed to be black? Darn it, I have that nice new plated thing on mine...

I think that is a real fair price for that machine and would bring it in Texas. That is a lot of tractor for the money for work or show if the drive train is solid, and the low serial number is a plus. I'm betting he gets that asking price, and also bet he makes no profit. I personally would want some info on the engine hours and compression etc before buying.

(quoted from post at 19:15:45 05/21/15) Dang if you guys are gona pick it apart.......
I do not see a battery hold down;
And what's up with that aftermarket oil filter.

Actually, I don't think anyone's picking it apart, we are admiring the work someone did.

I'm actually picking my own machine apart. Debating now if I should paint my purdy plated coil bracket black or not.

Well you will have to scuff and paint it.

Weren't you leaving all the bolts au naturel too?
The clamp will probably add a nice accent.

Wow, that's nice.
If it were in around here I would bet you he would get his asking price or pretty close. Someone would pick it up for a parade or show tractor.

Yeah, leaving most bolts natural. I'd like to think that I could figure out the assembly sequence (somewhat), which would dictate which hardware gets left unpainted. But I'm sure I got some stuff wrong. So I'll just say "I'm going for a detailed look" or something like that, LOL.

OK showcrop, is that thing supposed to be gloss, semi-gloss, or flat black? LOL If I paint it, I need to do it right.

Thanks,
Kevin

Well, it is really hard to see but I can tell you that you can't see it against the coil, so it must be flat or satin. I just noticed looking at the pics that the top of the coil is yellowish tan. I remember coils like that.

I know I've completely hijacked the original thread, but I was looking at that coil bracket tonight, and I just can't bring myself to paint it. I know it's not correct, but it just looks too good plated. I did already make it look like it has an original-style yellow-top coil on it.

On the other hand, I did remove the throttle rod/handle and stripped the paint off of it. Polished and clear coated it the natural finish. Looks good. I need to do that with my choke rod also.

"I know I've completely hijacked the original thread"

Nah, it was a thread about purdy tractors. Yours fits right in! :)

Thanks.

Trying to make mine more purdy today. Got the tin back on it, finally. Got some more pics to work on posting this weekend.

Just have to shoot the grille and fenders this week, paint the air cleaner, and call it done for now. Sometime this summer there's a set of pie weights that need cleaned and painted.....but I need to take a break for now.
