Throttle handle - Correct color

This might be the dumbest (LOL) question I have posted to date. Long story, but on the 641 I am restoring, I had to pull the steering column-area tin back off of it to repaint. That's done, but before I put it back together, I'm having second-thoughts on the throttle handle. You know, the part that comes up through the instrument panel tin and you move crack open the throttle. Should it be red? Or plated?

For some reason, there is this little voice in the back of my head that says it should be plated. I have it red right now.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes Kevin, it was plated. I have my three painted silver. I have a brochure from I suppose the late fifties that uses actual color photographs instead of the ones that were black and white then colors filled in after. The brochure is about twelve pages featuring a 601 and 801 being used for various construction jobs. Feel free to shout out to me if other questions come up.

Thanks. Glad I asked, then. I'm going to plate mine. Got one of those plating kits from Eastwood that I'm going to try out. Need to do the hood latches and hinges also. I'll post up some pics when done.

Please let us know how that works. Don't bother cleaning those latches for painting, you can get new for very reasonable.

Will do. Just got the final clear coat laid down on all of the red tin tonight. Breathing a sigh of relief. Been a long time coming.

I'll post up the results of the plating. And I already sandblasted my hood hinge and latch components, so they will get the treatment as well. I checked and the latches were 25 bucks each. Me and the sandblaster = $0.00.....will see how they plate out. :)

Pics to follow, hopefully this coming weekend.
