Need a 5200/7200 Steering Gear Box

My Ford 5200 has a cracked vane (P/N C5NN3C504B) and the part doesn't seem to be available. Neither does the entire steering gear box assembly. Definitely an absolete set up as its the older version.

I've looked all over the internet and cannot locate this gear box. I saw that there was a conversion kit offered at one time but was told it isn't a very good solution.

Any ideas on a solution? Know of a scrapped older 5200/7200 sitting around? Or could a guy install the later style steering motor and make some modifications?

I totally rebuilt the setup to except a hydrostatic steering pump from a 750 MF combine. Took some doing but it sure works nice.

2 things. First, I have a parts 5200 with a bad steering sector that might have the part to fix yours. Second, I sold a used steering sector off a 8000 to a man that was planning to put it on a 7200. He said it worked fine. That would give you some options on your search.

I'm needing the rotor and ring assembly that has the vanes. Item 15 on the schematic.

I checked out the 8000-9600 early model gear boxes. Looks like it may work. Thanks for that.

iirc... the internals are "married" from the factory to the housing. Meaning they can not be changed due to tolerences and clearance issues... But again, its been a while since I was in one of those. If that is true, I would look to change to an standard orbital motor setup and be done with it.

also upper shaft would strip badly on the input shaft was another problem to get rid of as well.

The internals that are "married"...are you referring to the internals of
the gear box? And that you recall a similar gear box wouldn't respond
properly to the pump, cylinders, etc?

I like your suggestion of the standard motor setup; I'm just not sure what
that would all entail and thought the using an 8000-9600 gear box may be
the simplest of solutions. But I'll check into it.
