First time poster here.
Been soaking up all the good info for 2 years.
With your "411" I've been able to completely rewire 2 tractors and do quite a bit of other maintenance and troubleshooting as well.
I really enjoy tinkering with these machines (hard for me to refer to it as work)... although the NAA's exhaust elbow gasket replacement tried my patience (off and on) for several days (that inner bolt...).
Can't wipe the smile from my face when operating these machines. Wife gets a kick out of watching... one of these days I'm sure she'll be at the steering wheel (Step Down 1st, no doubt).
-'46 2N (12 volt, Step Up Sherman)(my son's).
-'54 NAA (6 volt, Step Up/Down Sherman).
Tuned up the NAA today (condensor, points (.025), rotor, cap, plugs (.025) and plug wires (solid core of course).
Before the tune up she would idle at 450 RPM and needed a little choke held for several seconds after the first kick.
After the tune up, she starts noticeably faster\easier, with no choke at all, seems to run smoother too, but now she idles at just below 900 rpm.
In the future for the NAA;
Brakes, rear axle seals, hydraulic piston seals, center hood re-alignment and paint.
For the 2N;
Exhaust manifold leak above the usual 4th cylinder, brakes, axle seals, tires and eventually paint.
Any suggestions?
Thx,
-CBull
