governor control on Ford 3000 gas

Really need help, soon! Our engine club has a Ford 3000 gasser. When we replaced the gas tank shut off valve & cleaned out the gas lines (which were plugged with debris) we removed the carburetor & disconnected the governor rod from it. Cleaned everything out of the lines and re-assembled carb & connected the governor rod back to carb. Now when we start up, the governor runs wild. Why? What could have happened? We never messed with the governor settings or rod adjustment. We need this tractor for this week end! Any good advice appreciated! Thanks.

I can't say from here but would guess you did not get the governer rod through the loop in the fuel line below properly so it is rubbing..

Ultradog, thanks so much. After 5 tries at removing & re mounting the carb & tweaking the gas lines, everything works okay now! I wonder if Ford engineers ever had to work on this setup with those gas lines?!
