My Ford 600 series quit running and in checking the points I found that a point had fallen off of not an old set. This was remedied with a new set and my problem was over,so I thought.When it didn't start I discovered that the distributor shaft that the rotor sits on didn't turn a few times when I turned it over but now turns O.K.,I pulled the distributor out and the gear looks good but maybe not good news for me.Does that sound like the cam shaft?

roll pin in dist shaft gear is broken. Or dist not pushed all the way down.

That sounds like a good thing to check and would be the easy way out. As far as the distributor not being all the way down,I had not touched it
yet and it was tight with the two side bolts. Thank you.
