3000 Diesel Operating RPM

I normally run my 3000 in the 1200-1400 rpm range when shredding. It seems to sound about the right rpm to me.

What RPM do you guys use when mowing for hours.

Thanks

It does depend somewhat on which transmission you have.
I had to consult the manual here but 540 pto speeds are:
4 speed = 1500
8 speed with transmission pto = 1600
8 speed with live pto = 1800
SOS = 1800
6 speed is not listed in my OM but I suspect it would be the same as the 8 in both regards.
I run mine all of 1800 if I'm brush or finish mowing.
Snow plowing or on the disc I run slower. Maybe 1300 rpm?
A little more if I'm plowing dirt.

Thanks for the look up.. I was fixing to say 1900 but thats a 3000/7610 series...

You need to run the shredder at 540 rpms for it to correctly get the blade speed needed to cut correctly and fast enough to clean the blades for the next cut.

Thanks for the info. I think I might need to crank it up a bit??

I have always just judged from the sound but never thought of PTO speed. At 1400 it sounds like it is racing a bit to me. Admittedly this is the first diesel piece of equipment I have ever owned and the loudness alone is quite a difference.
