Squealing Power Steering 59 801 Series

Turning the ol' tractor is getting harder. I opened the power steering reservoir and the hydraulic oil was more milky than clear. I'm thinking that the fluid needs total replacement and the water in the fluid may be causing the loss of the power steering and the source of the squealing.

Fair assessment?

What is the best way to completely remove the old fluid? Remove the lines on the lowest end - on the cylinders themselves? Or remove the pump itself and empty it? or both?

Thoroughly flushing/replenishing the PS oil (and replacing the filter) is the first step but you may well have a more serious problem.

The PS belt is properly tensioned, of course?

Jack up the front of the tractor. Remove the PS line(s) at both ends of the cylinders and turn the steering lock to lock to remove as much oil as possible. Remove any remaining oil from the reservoir. Reconnect the lines.

Replenish will new oil (Don't neglect to change the filter.). Start the engine and turn the steering lock to lock several times. Replenish the oil level.

Repeat the procedure until the oil that comes out is clean.
