Has any one successfully used a block sealer such as "Steel Seal". Heads are high dollar and we are not farming with this tractor.

i'm not a fan of head and block sealers, but go ahead and maybee fill us in on what tractor this is, and what is leaking. heads or block? and is it an internal leak or external leak. there may be other options than fiber or glue.

The crack is between No 2 and 3 cylinders in the head and down towards the exhaust seat in number 3. Hardly noticeable but you can tell water has been in number three. Just not quite able to justify $700 for a remanufactured head, thus the question about block sealers.

Sorry about that. Guess I figured you had seen earlier posts. Anyway it is from a 641 Ford.

Hmm, internal cracks with water leakage?

I'm just not a fan of crack sealers. I don't mind a builders cube as insurance .. But this is verified damage. I know some like water glass, but I personally would hunt for an affordable used head.

Hey Wayne, I have a Ford 850, the head cracked on it this past winter, thought it had antifreeze in it, right over the intake manifold. I took all the paint off roughed up the metal some and used JB Weld on the crack, let it sit for a couple days and started it back up. I ran it this past weekend for 3-4 hours bush hogging and everything was fine, no water in oil, no over heating, no leaks. I may have just gotten lucky but for now it is working!
