650 tappets

Silly question but is there a lock nut on the tappets? I was going to adjust mine (before it started raining) and I could see no lock nut. Can't recall ever seeing tappets with no lock nut.

Also, a rocker box gasket here will cost me $25 and the soonest I have found to get one is 3 weeks. Can I just use silicon - I'm thinking black RTV. Or will that not work with the acorn nuts needing a specific thickness of gasket down below?

No they don't have lock nuts. I don't know how they work but they are apparently some kind of self locking hard to turn screws. I suppose you could use silicone but the only way that I would use it is to make a mold to squeeze it into and let it cure before putting it on.

Thanks showcrop. The gasket's still in one piece but one corner has squished out and I see they are even $13 'down there' so I guess I'll order one and do with the one I have till it gets here.

Never did like lock nuts anyway.
