961 power steering pump

Hi Gary. Welcome to YT! how long have you had your 901? I have two. Where are you located. For the seal, last I knew CNH. I went to get one about five years ago when I used to still try to support them. They were so cheap I bought three!! I figured they would be valuable soon as museum pieces. The last known reasonably parts sold by CNH, LOL.

I just rebuilt the power steering pump on my 641, and if you're asking about the seal for the shaft of the pump, I used Chicago Rawhide part number 7443. It is also SKF part number 7443. Commonly available at a good parts store. Here's some detail on it:

http://www.skfextranet.com/Catalogs/457010/sealdetail.asp?s=7443

When you go to rebuild the pump, put the seal in, then carefully slide the shaft into it from front to back (as the pump would be installed on the tractor). Trying to put the shaft in from back to front will result in rolling that new seal. The way the shaft is made, there is no radius on it to help it install from back to front, and that ends up messing up the seal if you try it that way.

Hope that helps,
Kevin
