I'll admit I'm getting old and senile, but I thought
I could replace a simple solenoid with 3 wires.
Somehow I messed it up. First try was hot cables
and acid cooking out of the battery as soon as I
put the cable on the battery.....I switched the
battery cable and the starter cable on the
solenoid and now it wants to start as soon as I
put the cable back on the battery. Replaced with
NCA 11450A.....had to walk away from it. Your
thoughts?

Solenoid is no good. Last week just picked one up from Tractor supply hooked it up and the battery and wants to start. Returned it and when to New holland dealer, Paid more, install it, no problem. By the way that's 2 out of 3 that failed right out of the box from tractor supply on a couple different tractors

what happens if you remove the small wire? If it cranks then bad solenoid grounding the small terminal should make crank.

Thanks John, I'll get a replacement but not from TSC. I'll go to the dealer....I know the manager at the local TSC and I'm going to ask why they sell this stuff. I'm sure it's a corporate decision.
