2000 vs 3000 engine

I am giving a friend of mine a hand with his 3cyl. 3000 tractor. The engine in it pretty much damaged beyond practical and cost effective repair, so we are looking at a used engine. I see that the 2000 has the same basic specs, cubic inches, bore and stroke etc. as the 3000.So my question is from a basic block stand point are the engines interchangeable, or is there some other factor that I don't see.

Technically...
It depends on whether you are talking about a gas or diesel.
Both 2000 and 3000 gassers used the exact same 158 ci engine. 4.2 bore X 3.8 stroke. The 3000 was governed about 150 rpm faster and likely had different jetting in the carb to give it the 4 or 5 bump in HP.
The 2000 diesel used a 158 and the 3000 diesel used a 175 ci - 4.2 X 4.2.
Any 3 cylinder engine will physically interchange. 2000, 3000, 4000, 2600, 3600, 4600, 3910 etc - 158, 175, 183, 192 or 201 ci
