Oil Pressure

Just got 4000su diesel motor rebuilt and running. Oil pressure is 65psi at 800rpm...goes up to about 70psi at 2000rpm. Are these good numbers?

Work the rebuilt in some moderation until you have a few hours on it. If the engine was properly rebuilt the oil pressure shud stay up there. In hot weather multi viscosity oils may cause it to drop a bit

Dose any one know the oil presser # for a NEW manufactured FORD 4000, ( it's probably a 1964 model) and what would be the lowest presser that would be safe for an older used (4 cylinder) FORD 4000 ??

As of today, with a fresh oil change/filter I get a max of 50 # presser on the dash board oil gauge.

Thanks

The red tiger 4 cyl engines generally can make cold throttle psi in the 50 ish range. I have seen 60 on a few.. No need to more as it will be going
out the relief.

As for minimum, I've 'heard' numbers like a minimum of 6 psi per 1000rpms. I personally like more, however I do have one well worn red tiger
that after a hard day mowing, hot idle pressures will be 20-25, 40-45 throttle. No plans to rebuild her yet.
