1963 Ford 2000

My first tractor and I think my first post - My Ford started and ran fine until it required gas. I put 5 gallons in and tried to start, it would not start and noticed gas was just dripping out of the carb at a rapid pace. Did nothing until gas stopped dripping and was able to start. Parked it and turned off and tried to start again, no dice won't start. Background bought it from an individual that did not run it much lately. Thinking about removing and cleaning carb but figured I would think and post up here before I move forward. Is there anything I should do before I remove & clean or is there something I should do that is in a totally different direction? Thanks for the advice.

It is possible that the tank is very dirty, adding fuel may have stirred up fine silt that now hangs the float needle valve making it flood the carb.

(quoted from post at 17:40:45 04/14/15) Disassemble the carb and set the float drop to spec.

Sorry for all of the rookie questions but where can I find the specifications for the float drop? Is there a procedure for removing, cleaning and replacing replaceable stuff (gaskets, o - rings etc...)in the carb? Assuming there are items inside the carb that are normally replaced where can I find them?
