A guy comes buy and buys parts for what he says is a 600. So far every thing he has got for the engine has worked. He show's up with this wanting a input shaft this is not for a 600 4 speed ag tractor... He brought it to fix up he does not know what he has other than he thought it was a Ford 600 4cyl with a 4sp. He said he went after the clutch and had to pry it apart the input was stuck to the pilot brg and broke it... It was toast anyways its rusted so bad... The only other info I could get from him is the flywheel is around 3" thick... Any one know what it may have came out of...

Never seen one in person, but looking through the parts drawings that looks like it might be from a Dexta or Super Dexta. They both had a flywheel that looks really thick from the side as well, but they are more like a brake drum in overall shape so the front plate is much thinner than it looks from the side.

It looks like it could be from a a XX1 4 speed. Those flywheels are around 3 inches thick. But parts in the picture do not seam to be proportionally right. But I know my memory is not what it used to be.

A dex never crossed my mine... I sold him a starter he said it fit and worked will have to look it up and see if they used the same starter...

Its short even if it has a 3" flywheel  The trans side has a caged roller BRG also... Its trashed I spec the whole trans is junk...

The input shaft retainer looks like it has 5 bolt holes like the reversing transmission has.

The Dexta/Super Dexta weren't 4-speeds. (pretty sure they were dual range 6-
speeds) Most were 3-cylinder diesels; only a few were 4-cylinder gassers, but
they weren't Ford engines, so it's doubtful a starter from a 6/800 would fit.

Like already said, that's the shaft and nose from a Sherman reverser (shuttle) trans.

May be I questioned him hard he said no aux trans... I told him to take some pix...

In '64 the Super Dexta had a 144 c.i. Perkins diesel/rated at 38 h.p., 3 speed w/hi-lo plus rev. Starter on right side of eng sitting on tractor w/mechanical solenoid.
