196? 4cyl 2000 hydraulics

I'm trying to set up a front snow plow on my 2000. I can use either the 2 way or 1 way ram, but I can't get it to work. The tractor has 2 controls (plus the 3pt control). I want to use the port(s) on the inside (the driver's left) of the valve. The IT manual says something about an allen screw that will convert a dual ation valve to a single action valve. I tried hitching up to the cyl with 2 lines, but it will only raise the plow, not lower it. I then tried it with the front port to the cyl but that did not move anything. The IT manual seems to say that the front port is the pressure port. Where am I going wrong. I took some pictures, but I can't figure how to link to them on photobucket.
Thanks.

On OE valve banks with 4 ports, 2 spools, usually one set is da fixed, and the other set is da/as convert able. Some with a knob or screw sometimes called fast drop.

If in doubt which ports pressure when the spool is in a certain direction, just use open hoses or fittings in a bucket and see what each spool does in each direction with the ports. Then mark which ports are which spool, and which function when forward. Ie, a da spool has one port pressure the other dump, then swaps them when you go the other direction.

That should tell you how they are configured, both da hormone da and one as, and what ports do what. Then up to you on the plumbing of the da or as cyl you have. If you have to run a as cyl on a da port, you need to route the other unused port to sump, otherwise during exhaust of the as cyl, the other port is flowing across relief.
