converting points/condensor

I have two older tractors. Would like to replace the points/condensors with a pertronix system. I found one but am not sure how to tell if my Ford 801, gas, 12v has a positive or negative ground. Everything I have read seems to be good about switching to this so I would like to try it. Any suggestions on how to figure out which I have and are there any other electronic "things" I should be aware of? Thanks much

Here are the two web pages:

Your 801 left the factory as 6V, positive ground. Since it has been converted to 12V, it most likely has an alternator. Nearly ALL alternators are negative ground. A generator could be set up for + or - ground, but most are - ground. Take a look at your battery. Most have + and - stamped next to or on top of the posts. Follow the cable and see which one is attached to the frame.

yup, as said. you, the user determine what the ground polarity of the tractor is by tieing one of the battery posts to ground, and having a corelating charge system.
