rear end swaps

While cleaning out the shop, I found a 601 engine, transmission, and what I think is a 1000 series rear end.

My question is will the rear end bolt up and work on the transmission. I was just about to haul it off to the scrap iron dealer.

should I or is it more trouble than its worth.

If it's the earlier 4 cylinder 2000/4000 series rear end then yes, it will mate up and bolt together as long as the trans output shaft has the fine splines that match up to the rear.

even if one is coarse and one is fine splines. that's easy to fix with a bandsaw and welder and 1 each of correct couplers.
