Bleeding the Injector Pump

I was using my 3000 dsl, and it started to sputter out. I cut it off and found out it was almost out of fuel. I added approx 2-3 gal of fuel to the tractor. Tried to restart no go.

When you bleed the air out of the injector pump do you loosen the large bolt on top of the injector pump???? Trying to get the air out. I have pumped the lever and have fuel in the filters. What else is there to do??? Thanks Charlie

You must have a Simms pump all injector lines coming out the top. Loosing the lines at the injectors and cranking some times helps. The big nut at the top is for changing oil in the pump. There is a drain plug in the bottom and a level plug on the side. The oil same oil as engine should be change every 200 hrs.

NOt to mention, there is a check plug on the side of the pump, so you put oil in, only till it comes up the the check plug, not the top... So... dont overfill it... Also most pump have a bleed screw on the side to prebleed the low pressure part of the pump.. and you do that before you start the cranking and bleeding the high pressure side of the pump... So... a book or a picture is worth a thousand words when bleeding the system and changing the pump oil...

You can always put the tractor in high/high, and pull start it.. it will take a mile of pulling but it will start after it self bleeds the air out of it. Again, you need to be careful doing this as well.. ie let the clutch out slowly to get the engine to spin over while pulling, and only pull with the tractor in high range and high gear assuming you have a standard shift transmission... and YOU must be ready to push in on the clutch when the engine finally starts so you dont run over the pull vehicle,, and you only pull it at 3 to 5 mph... and you dont run over the chain, etc etc etc...and the pull vehicle must not slam on the brakes and you must have good brakes, and you must buy US savings bonds... etc bs phd, ms, epluribus, uranium..
