transmisson swap

Hi all I was going to put my 1960 ford 641 transmission in my 1958 ford 621 till I got the 641 out to see 23 count on spline/ coupler at rear end and mine is 10 count spline. Am I done or can you change the shafts just by unbolting them or do I rebuild the 621 trans? Just trying to save a few bucks knowing I had the 641 trans. Thanks to all.

January 1958 is when they changed some of the spline counts and other items during the 601/801 production, you could have the 2 couplers cut and welded back together so one style is in each half or change the pinion but them the wear will not be matched on the ring and pinion.

thanks for your Reply's it's sounds like the rear is for sure on the trans block reads 621 and it never had a pto it has a backhoe on it. I was thinking it would be nice if that coupler was made already. Thanks again.
