OT - Ford, Another Project

Well my boy has been nagging for a while to get a Mustang, and we found one, that runs but 'needs work'.....

So after I"m done with:
My 4000
AC Restore
Dad's 2N Refurbish

We get to tear into this one...

Traded it for a camper we no longer used...

Drove it on and off the trailer and parked it under the carport....

I'm betting he will be sitting in it when I get home, he's been anxious ever since we made the deal for it...

Nice looking Tang, BUT, Why do I get the feeling that somehow this one will either get done in conjunction with one of the others or pushed ahead of....

Just saying as I have teenagers too

Nice looking 66, I have one myself. Looks pretty straight, I'm guessing it has a straight six under the hood? Pour some water down the cowl
vents at the base of the windshield, the cowls are known to be a rust issue and can be a bit of work to repair. Check out the Vintage
Mustang forum for some helpful advice if need be.

This advice is spot-on.

I have a '66 myself. My 641 restoration is getting in the way of fixing a couple of nagging things on my Mustang. I'm ready to get back on the Mustang.

Like the other fellow said, Vintage-Mustang dot com is a good resource. My email is also open if you have any questions. Been messing with '65-66 Mustangs for the better part of 30 years...

This is pretty funny, we both have a 66 Mustang, and both have a 641 Ford tractor. Here is a picture of my Mustang:

here is my 641, which needs more work than yours Kevin.

It does have some rust on the underside, but after looking through the many online catalogs, nothing we can't fix with replacement parts.

Its going to be a longer term project than the tractors, and will require the space in the barn that my 4000 has occupied in the back.

He's already asking if he can start sanding on it in the carport... but he's had a chance to see the price of some of the panels/frame parts he needs to buy, so he's looking like crazy for odd jobs and stuff he can do to start earning money... nothing like having a willing servant to help in the barn...

It was originally a straight 6, has been replaced with a newer 289.

It was parked outside where we got it, and it came a horrendous downpour the day before we picked it up, but the carpet was good and dry inside, so I'm gonna guess the windshield is ok for now. Will check it out though to make sure.

Not going to be a restoration job, just a nice car to drive job.

Gonna make sure its mechanically sound, fix the rusted panels/frame parts with reproduction parts and will probably do the paint here in the barn, I'm not bad with a paint gun, but probably won't win any awards based on the paint.
