pitted exh valve

ok, '68 3400 3 cyl gas - bought as non-runner, dropped an exh valve when tried pull starting, punched a hole in the piston and danced around the cyl.....

Got the .040" over block back from the shop and I'm getting the head together, I obviously need one ex valve ($12). All the guides measure good, valves too. Everything cleaned up nice (Neway Seat cutter and a lap job). I noticed one of the remaining exh valves has some pitting in the portion of the stem that'd be in the exh port almost at the guide.

Do I replace it? (I know, for $12 peace of mind I should, but what would you guys do)?

If it were me I would replace it now that it has been seen. It wouldn't ever give any trouble but it would bug Me thinking about it more than
$12.00 worth.

12 bucks each? I think for the sake of 80-100 bucks I'd replace all 6 and be done of it. It dropped one. It's probably not too far from dropping another one. To put this in context, you could replace the whole lot of them for less money than an upper gasket set.

Rod, sometimes it take someone outside the equation to make me see reason.

Thanks guys. I think it's even cheaper if I get the whole valve set.

Dean, I've never replaced keepers unless I lost one - how are these wear items? I could see if they've scarred the valve stem but it's all clean and burr free. Not a challenge, I'm just curious.

I know the springs can lose tension or crack, I don't think I'm going to invest in a valve spring scale - the whole kit with keepers and valves is only $80. Seems like a no-brainer (AND there're plenty of people out there who've question my brain).
