Brushhog PTO shaft removal ?

(2 questions in a day, can you tell spring is here?)

So i'm replacing my old PTO shaft that connects my Ford 860 to my brushhog. I removed the bolt that held it to the Howse brushhog and thought it would just slip off, but looks like it is held on with a clip?

Is it and if so, is there a trick to removing the clip? If I remove it, would tractor supply stores (Orschelen's, Feldman's, etc.) stock new ones?

Thanks,

John

That bolt you took out is the shear pin, when you put a new one in there don't put anything more than a "grade 2" bolt or you'll be replacing the gearbox. That clip holds the shaft on there when the shear bolt breaks. Just pick at the clip and pry it out.

If it is a clip with no ears for split ring pliers, use 2 small screwdrivers to chase it out, kinda like doing a PTO shaft seal change.
