Ford 3000 sheet metal

My 1971 Ford 3000 gas is missing the sheet metal at the base of the fuel tank that covers the steering column. I have checked e-bay and many web sites and cannot find it. Any suggestions on where to find these two parts greatly appreciated...Ben

According to the parts diagram, there's actually 4 pieces pf sheet metal for a 3000 and 2000 (45, 46, 47 & 48 in the drawing) plus a bracket (55):

Only two for the 3500 and 4000. My '73 4000 was missing the two pieces when I bought it. Mine was a highway department mower originally and I figure that the guys in the shop got tired of removing them and re-installing them every time they needed to work on something. It looks like the 3000 and 2000 would be even more of a pain. I don't see a need for them unless you're trying to do a restoration for shows or parades. Otherwise they're just more things that have to be removed every time you have to work on something, and more places for bees to build nests in the summer and for mice to build nests in the winter.

If you really want them I would plug the part numbers from the parts drawing into tractor-part.com or a similar salvage yard/used parts search site.

I took mine off cleaned out the rats nest behind them and did not put them back and probably never will... I like mine just fine with out them...

My LCG was missing those also and Sean is right, they are just another part to take off. However I like all the pieces that were on the machine to still be there. I think they were still available when I checked in Messicks, but cost-prohibitive. I got all 4 pieces for $150 at a salvage yard.

There are 4 pieces of tin plus the front and rear brackets that make up a set.
What are you willing to pay for them?
I hope a lot.
They can be hard to find.
There is a set on Ebay but you'd need to raid your piggy bank.
Comes out of England.
I sold a set to a fellow a few months ago.
I wasn't going to let them go. But he bugged me for two years for them and promised to give me some bow shooting lessons and help me find a good used bow that fits. He's a regional 3D bow champion/instructor.
So I let the set go for $125.
A set for a 26/3600 will fit too except for the little front piece on the left side.
That piece is different because of the hydraulic lines. If you found a 3600 set and wanted to trade that piece I have it.
Been looking for it, off and on, for 3 years.
They made several different styles for a 3000 - with a accelerator pedal, SOS, and standard tranny.
If you really want a challenge look for a set for an early 3000, 3400 or 4410 high tin model.
They are taller.
Set on Ebay

I have mine tied to the rafters in a storage building I think I better clime up there and write GOLD on'em...

If I buy another keep'er the first thing I will do is tidy up the positive battery cable then those covers are coming off :!:
They serve on purpose other than a home for a rats nest...

I have the set of them NOS for a 3000 with power steering, I will take $175.00 for them shipping included

Thanks everyone for the info. I had no idea these parts would be so expensive. Mine does have power steering. I'll probably not make the purchase...Ben
