Link belt for power steering

Just bought a 1960 641 from my brother that he picked up last fall. It has factory power steering, but the pump is locked up solid and the belt had been removed long before we got the machine. Went to the local boneyard and got another Eaton pump, and hope to put it on this weekend. Need to pop a new belt on with it, but don't want to remove the entire front-mounted hydraulic pump and drive assembly to do that (it is a loader machine). Looking at using a link-belt to get around this.

Any of y'all know the approximate length of the factory power steering belt? I'm not going to be able to look at it until the weekend, but would like to order a link belt ASAP.

Thanks!
Kevin

If its a Ford Loader, should be 2 Bolts in the bottom of the pump, and the pump and shaft can slide forward far enough to get the belt on without unhooking anything else.

I will look at my belt number before I head in to work, mine is a 4000, but with the Eaton Pump, it should be the same belt.

The segmented type belts will not carry PS loading nor are they durable.

ing the pump shaft to install a proper belt is not difficult.

Found it. 41.7" length. Ordered a regular V-belt, will attempt to pull the front pump/shaft. Brother told me bolts were all rusted and not moving when he tried, so it might get fun.

Thanks,
Kevin

I have never had much trouble pulling the pump bolts and then moving it forward to install a belt on either my 841 or my 8N both have the same loader pump on them and have owned both since the mid 80s
