I'm not familiar with all Ford models but am wondering if there was ever a 4000 Row Crop Tricycle tractor?

Thanks. Tom

Welcome to the board Team580! as Kirk says they made one in the 3 cyl version too. It is called the 4200 and is not very common. if you have a line on one keep it a secret until you have it bought and home, LOL.

Ford was kind of goofy as in several instances they made two completely different tractors and called them by the same model.
Some examples are:
2000 4 cylinder and 2000 3 cylinder.
4000 4 cylinder and 4000 3 cylinder
2110 3 cylinder LCG which was like a 3000 and 2110 which waqs a Japanese built tractor.
4100 (which the 3 cylinder all purpose model was referred to) and a 4100 which was only built for a couple of years.
So when you are referring to one or another - especially the 2000/4000s - always give us a hint which one you mean.
Both photos are just off of google images.
Here is a photo of a 1962-65 4 cylinder 4000 row crop.

(quoted from post at 06:56:12 03/30/15) . Thanks for the replies. I like the 66 to 73 3cyl version. How hard would it be to find one?

Tom

They are not as common as the ag chassis 4000 of the same time period, that's for sure, although they do show up for sale occasionally. They were more common in some areas of the country than others. If you really want one I would watch my local craigslist, plus machinefinder, tractorhouse, tractorbynet, etc. and wait for something to pop up in my area, even watch ebay. It may be a short wait or a long one, depending on where you are located, but you should find one eventually. If they are priced reasonably they usually don't last long.

Here's an interesting one on tractorhouse, notice the metal "tires", as it's in Mennonite country here in PA. I've seen a lot of metal "tire" tractors here in PA, but this is the first one I've seen with springs inside the tread on the fronts. First one I've seen with a S-O-S transmission too. It's a wide front rowcrop, but it could be easily switched to the tricycle front end if you can find a parts tractor as a donor:

I replied to your last post but for some reason it's only displaying in classic view, so if you're reading this in modern view switch to classic view to read it.

These tractors (the latest 4000/4200) were available with gas or diesel and standard or sos shift?

What engine(s) did they use? Easy to rebuild?

Thanks. Tom

They were available in gas and diesel...and LP, I believe. 8-speed with independent PTO was standard, SOS was an option. From '66 through early '68 they used a 192 c.i. 3-cyl. gas or 201 c.i. diesel. From mid-'68 on, they used a 201 in both gas and diesel. No harder than any other engine to rebuild. Parts are readily available.
