Where's my sign...

Ok, so working on 3 projects all at once... and REALLY wanting to get my tractor finished...

Working on my 64' 4000
My daughter's boyfriends AC 611 Restoration.
My Dad's 2N

And its time to start working on the garden... and a 100 other things...

So.... I had a brain vaporloc....

My boy and I were working on my tractor, had fixed the coolant leak and the exhaust leak, and the tractor died... wouldn't start, would crank and crank and ran the battery down...

Frustrated that I had probably burnt the points with all the messing I had done, and found that it looked like the dipstick was grounding out the coil because it wasn't all the way in...

I put the charger on and the next day it cranked and cranked without starting... even more frustration...

So I start going through all the checklists for not firing...
Cleaned every connection...
Checked for good voltage everywhere...
Went and bought an adjustable spark checker and good spark...
Pulled the plugs and they looked good, but burned them off with a torch anyway...
Fuel in the Sediment Bowl...
Fuel in the Carb...
Crank Crank Crank, no start...

Here's where I need Bill Engvall and my Sign...

For grins I looked in the tank to make sure something hadn't gone wrong with my new shut off valve...

And its empty... I had only put a quart or so of gas in it, because I had problems with the shut off valve...

Felt dumb as hell... Just goes to show that I've got too much going on at once...

Oh well, at least I am relieved that nothing major was wrong, ready to throw on the sheet metal now... won't be long now.

You got to look at the bright side.. you fixed a lot of stuff that didnt need fixing before it needed fixing. And after that you fixed the one thing that needed fixing before you fixed everything else.

Boy,, are you good! ;)

Don't feel so bad... My Oliver won't run very far on it's reputation alone either. We've all done stuff like that. Most of us are just too proud to
admit it. If I told you about all of the tractor boners I've made in my lifetime you would expect me to be in a rubber room. Smile, shake your
head, learn from it, and move on... to some other mistake! Glad you found the trouble before you spent more time and $$$ on it, or took it to a
Pro, or your father-in-law!

I am putting a supercharger on my Mustang Cobra. Got the initial tune loaded on the computer, fired her up, ran rich as heck. Shut it off, more fiddling fired again. Still not right. Hmmmm... Went back later, crank, crank, crank, cough sputter no run. What the heck! Leaning over the fender staring at the engine as to what might be wrong. Schrader valve on fuel rail catches my eye. Press it in with screwdriver. Air comes out.

I felt just as dumb. It is usually the simple things! :)

Marv both of my Father in Laws would have just said to call a mechanic...

But yes, I am very glad it was just something simple. VERY glad.
