Update on Marvel carb expert??

Neighbor's 63 MF 35 was running extremely rich. We replaced the bottom half of carb and
main jet with parts from an old Jubilee carb. Well I discovered that someone added a
hard fiber washer to main jet. We thought when we cranked the jet all the way in it was
touching the main jet seat. It wasn't. The hard fiber washer prevented us from even
compressing the spring. Removed fiber washer, replaced old parts on carb, now it works
just fine.

I guess if you think about it long enough, there is no way the tractor would even run if
the main jet was cranked all the way in.

Just goes to show you that most any thing can be found in an old tractor and the ways to fix them at times are not even close to being correct. Many rebuild kits do not have good instructions in them so people do not have a clue what where goes

There [i:f531c75fdd]should[/i:f531c75fdd] be a seal there. And a metal washer between
it and the spring. Neither should bind your adjusting needle.

Possibly the wrong seal/washer or the wrong needle or they
were just so old that they had frozen to the needle.

All of those parts, including the needle itself and new choke and
throttle rods, are included in a comprehensive rebuild kit.
The kits sold here on YT include instructions for where they go.

But I still found one of the brass cups that hold the throttle rod
seal stuck in that same hole where the main needle goes in!
