Lift Won't Operate in Draft Mode - 841S

And so I'm back again. Fingers crossed that I've solved the clutch issue with an adjustment (time will tell). But now I have another issue:

The lift arms work fine in position control mode (could have intermittent leak-down, could have just been a loose position control lever, which I hope I've fixed), but it doesn't work at all in draft mode. With the control lever in the "up" position, when I shift into draft mode, the lift arms slowly fall (as if I've let the control arm down). Then the control arm won't function at all (lowering and raising it has no effect).

Am I doing something wrong, or is there an issue here? I've had just about every other "gasketed-thing" off this tractor, so I would not be the least bit surprised if I need to delve into the top cover.

ikely linkage problem....worn/bent/etc.

I don't think it would make a difference, but I've only ever switched between position and draft modes when the main control handle and lift arms are in the fully lowered position. I never even though to try to switch between the 2 modes with the lift arms up, but like I said, as I think about it it probably shouldn't make a difference.
