Ford 650 runs hot

My Ford 650 seems to run awful hot, when you shut it off , it blows coolant out of the top of the radiator, does this sound like the thermostat? Otherwise there are no leaks in the cooling system, thanks for any ideas

Gary,

Does the temperature gauge indicate your 650 is running hot, or is the coolant overflow after shutdown the only indicator you have?

The reason I ask is that you cannot keep the radiator full or you will have this overflow phenomena. Maintain the coolant level about an inch above the cores in the radiator.

My tractor will overflow coolant when shut down if the radiator is too full. It establishes an equilibrium. But my temperature gauge never gets past the middle of the green area on the gauge.

Don't forget to check the radiator fins making sure they are not all plugged up or have a lot of bent fins.

Do you fully refill the radiator after it purges the coolant? If so, I second the post about about filling about 1 inch or so above the core.
