Hood hardware - restoration stuff

Question about hood hardware for my 641. In the process of restoring the hood and side panels, I took the hinges, latches, and all hardware off and sandblasted everything.

With the latches, there is a part of it that triangulates the structure, and there is a tiny bolt that looks like a carriage bolt that goes through the top of the hood, and a nut threads on from the bottom. The head of the bolt is round that is exposted to the outside. The hood itself has a square hole in it for the bolt to engage (like a carriage bolt). Of course, these little buggers snapped off (rust) when I removed them, and I can't find the proper bolt anywhere. Took dimensions and looked through McMaster-Carr's offerings, but no luck.

Anyone know the small bolts I'm talking about, and know a source? I think I may call Carpenters on Monday, since they are repop-ing the hoods, as they might have something (but not shown in the catalog or online yet).

Doing all of this *crazy* restoration stuff and just can't put something ugly in there that is so up-front and center. I'll see it every time I get on the tractor! Yes, it's a bit OCD.

Thanks,
Kevin

Wish I could help Kevin, but I don't have a source for them.
Let us know if you find one.
I'm a bit CDO myself. That's like OCD, except that it's in
alphabetical order [b:4070dad7f2]LIKE IT SHOULD BE!!!![/b:4070dad7f2]

Thought I had them last week, but it was a swing and a miss. "Track bolts" from Fastenal are very, very close, but I missed the fact that they have a slotted head! Of course, found that out after the pack of them arrived.

I'm hoping Carpenters will sell me some when I call them on Monday. Will post back if so.

Thanks,
Kevin

If all else fails, I have two Jubilee hoods here. If the bolts
are the same I could try to get you a few bolts out of them.
For my purpose I could fill the slots with Bondo and paint over it.

Thanks for the offer! I still didn't get to try to call Carpenters, but have it on the list for today. Will post back how it goes...

Kevin

Guy at Carpenter's said they don't repop them, and suggested a carriage bolt. Carriage bolts I have been looking up have a noticeably larger diameter head.

Royse, I'll email you shortly...

Thanks,
Kevin
