one of the best looking tractors

I know it would take forever to paint this tractor as it has so many contrasting color parts.

but, to me, it still is one of the best looking tractors.

do not know why they painted a couple of the wheel weights red, that takes away a few points.
I would have them all gray if it were mine.

the paint job sure stands out.

guess you have to have painted a few tractor to understand the pain in contrasting all these body panels.

if I were in charge of painting tractors and trucks I would follow:

Henry Ford, you can have any color you want as long as it was black.
Harry Ferguson, you can have any color you want as long as it is gray.

Agreed. I think the 8_1 ford is one of the nicest looking tractors ever built. Ide like to pick one up but the wife says 1 tractor is enough.

Shouldn't make that much difference on the sheet metal, most people have it all in separate parts when they paint it anyhow. If you paint it all in one piece you will have what Dell calls a 30/30 paint job.

On some of the Elenco front wheel drive tractors the wheel weights were painted just like this to demonstrate how the back wheels would not slip and spin with the extra pulling power from the front wheel drive. This guy must have seen one and liked the way it looked. It didn't come from the factory that way but it's his and it still looks sharp!

(quoted from post at 18:16:22 03/17/15) Hands down I've always said Ford 801 & 901 best looking tractor ever made.

Jeff, I have to agree! Of course having two of them I could be biased. I think that two contrasting colors is pleasing to the eye, and a little plating and a little black here and there adds to it. I think, though that replacing too many parts that would have been originally red with plated or black makes it too "busy."

That's a very nice looking tractor indeed, but it looks very familiar.

Was that picture taken at the Minier Corn Daze?

See lots of that trashy paint jobs down here. And painted lug nuts drives me bonkers... Its bad enough the lugs get paint on them. And then dont get me started about the "pink" tractor in Fredricksburg. I want to put the poor thing out of its misery every time I see it. Its the stuff nightmares are made of. On the other hand, anything with lots of red sells due to Mexico being a bit over 100 miles away.
