Ford 3600 Diesel Injectors

I noticed in the operators manual the injectors are suppose to be replaced every 600 hours? Is that necessary? Does anyone recommend a good injector cleaner?

My Operator's manual for the earlier 3 cylinder thousand series just says to check and adjust the injectors at 600 hours. Odd that they would change the recommendation to replace for the x600 series. If it was me, since I don't have a testing stand, I would take them to a good local diesel shop and have them cleaned and tested and adjusted if they need it.

I really doubt the manual says to replace them at 600 hours. More likely it says something like "remove, inspect, clean, adjust, and replace".

I made a injector tester from a old hydraulic jack a 4000 lb gauge and a old injector line and some fittings.

And you know this how? I check mine at least at 1000 hrs yes the tractor acts fine but I usally find one that the pattern or the trip pressure is off. I've worked on tractors that were "just fine" until they have a burn't piston from a bad injector. To be fair these were tractors that were under a load in the field.

The manual says "The injectors should be changed every 600 hours. New injectors are available from your Ford Tractor-Equipment Dealer".

This has to be a mis-print the more I think about it. Every other Ford OM I've looked at says to have them checked every 600 hours by the dealer. To imply that they have to be replaced with new ones that often is ludicrous.
