Ford 3600 Injector pump

was working the 3600 today, running perfectly fine, shut the engine off, got back on 20 minutes later, and it will not fire off. I checked fuel at filter bleed-flows freely, checked fuel at pump bleed-flows freely, cracked lines at injectors while cranking-NO FUEL at injectors. I've bled the injectors on this tractor before after changing filters and it only takes 10-15 seconds and I can get it to fire. but i cranked it several times off and on for minutes, and NO fuel at injectors.

Its a cav pump. I triple checked the shut off cable, and lever 'is' in the open position- and I have the throttle wide open. Is something stuck inside? Is the pump dead?

any help would be appreciated,
thanks,
david

I have a 165 MF and it has the same problem. The shutoff is stuck closed. Sometimes a bump on the side of the pump will work. My neighbor had one that had to have a hit on the pump almost every time to start

Sounds like the metering valve stuck for whatever reason. Usually this only happens when it sits for long periods of time.

If this is the case, you can carefully remove the top cover of the pump and then remove and unstick said valve. Be very careful to keep everything clean inside before you do though.

A second, less likely scenario is that something caused the pump to seize internally. This can be confirmed by taking the fuel line off at the rear of the pump and cranking the engine. If the fuel gets sucked inside while cranking, that is a good sign that the pump is not seized.
