Installed one of these kits from this site on 6v.pos.grd.{coil included and wired as to insructions.]Auto Lite spark plugs are near new. Hard starting, have good even compression[75 lbs} on all cylds.,good fuel flow, but week spark. It cranks for a long time and then it may fire and start.

Anyone had this same promlem?

You don't have good even compression, you have low even compression. Ford spec'd 90 psi minimum.. while you can get some use lower, you are getting low.

If spark is weak, check your electrical feed connections.

75 is low, but if anything that should make your engine spin easier
and your battery drain be lower, so your spark should be strong.
You have two problems there and I don't think they're related.
Double check your wiring and connections to get good spark.
Battery cables and grounds as well as the new wiring.

If you have a 6 volt system with electronic ignition, your starter might be drawing down your voltage, thus your electronic ignition will not fire. Try jumping the starter with another battery 6 or 12 volt, but just to the starter, don't feed back thru electrical system.

Exactly why I all but refuse to sell 6V EI conversions. Step one is a 12V system conversion, then EI.

Did the kit SPECIFICALLY SAY that it was for a 6 volt system? My recollection is that they are only for 12v systems as 6 volts isn't enough voltage to operate the electronics.

ertronix units are available 6v-pos gnd, 6v-neg gnd, 12v-pos gnd, 12v-neg gnd. All flavors.

I have never dealt with a Prertronix EI conversion myself, but from what I have heard from others, they (Pertronix) are very helpful if you call them on the phone and tell them that you're having a problem with one of their kits. I just looked at the kit that this site sells, and it looks like it is just the EI module that replaces the points and condensor. I remember reading a post form someone that the manufacturer also recommends their own higher output coil that supposedly helps make the spark hotter, but I can't remember if that's on just the 12 volt kits or if they recommend that on all of them. If you call them I would bet that they would tell you.
