compression on 841

I have a field found 841 with loader. No
telling how many years it sat in the weather
but i brought it home, took off loader, and got
it in garage. Not wanting to try to crank it
dry I squirted oil in the cylinders, turned
crank by hand a few times and then let starter
turn it over. These are my results. 135-170-
170-160 wet. I would like to have a dry reading
but a felt better oiling it because of its
condition. Question is with such a big
difference between #1 and everybody else,
should I bite the bullet and rebuild, or will
it start this way and give me one season of
work before a rebuild next winter?
Thanks

Usually ya don't want more than 10% difference between hi and low. I this case I think numbers are close enough. I'd give er a try as is.

All those numbers are good if not super good other then the 135. If it was me I would pour in some ATF in the low one and let it sit a day or 2 then fire the puppy up and use it. Good chance the rings are sticking some on that cylinder but not real badly

Ditto, hit oil, and gas with some atf, lube the cyls for a day with atf and turn over by hand every few hours, just a bit to move it some, then run the oil out the next day with starter, fire her up and go now with her for an hour, then dogma another dry and then wet test.

Thanks guys! I fiddled with her last night to ck for spark and got 145 psi out of no.1 which was 135 night before last. I'll put in some ATF tonight and let sit. Meanwhile i'll get a carb kit and tune up kit and get er goin'!
