621 Maybe ?

Good Morning
This is my 1st tractor and 1st post.

I think I have a 621 but nothing adds up to the specs, it has PTO and hydraulic lift, hood and grill from thousands model. It is a 4 speed gas motor. The person I bought it from said 800 model. See the pictures and let me know what you think. Thanks you for any help.

if you are new, it won't let you post pics.. or at least it didn't used to.

otherwise, if the pic is hosted on the internet, paste the url into the pic url location. there was an alternate upload method as well.

if it is hosted and you can't post yet, at least paste the url into the message body and one of us can post it for you.

The 621 was a bare bones model. Hydraulics and pto
could easily be added at the dealer at customers
request or added later by owner. Serial # indicates
a 1958.

On the left side by the starter you should see to horizontal bolt holes. Just above them is a flat area. Clean that area off real good with carb cleaner spray. You should to a set of numbers there. The top number will be the model number and the bottom number the serial number

Looks like you have a early model 621 (clutch pedal pivot location).Probably built on late 1957. With a PTO and three point hydraulic added, and a complete hood from a 4 cylinder 1000 series tractor, Other wise known as a "mute"

What's so special about a tractor that can't talk? I thought they were all mute.

The engine code you gave was for a 134 cu in engine used from 1953-1957. It was used in the 6 and 7 hundred series tractors. The 172 cu in was used in the 8 and 9 hundred series. The serial number makes at least the trans a 1958, The hood door looks to be from a 1000 series, The fenders are from an 01 series. So it is surely an "mutt", i.e. built from other tractors. There are casting codes that can tell you the date or manufacture located on the engine, trans, lift cover, axle etc. if you are interested. It is not unusual for tractors to have parts from other tractors. Some folks are in the business of taking non operating parts tractors and making operating tractors. All that said, if all is working well it can be a very useful tractor. Hope this helps. Check out the link below for some great info on early Ford tractors.

If it doesn't have an Over Running Clutch (ORC) on the PTO shaft with that brush hog, you should get one and install it.
