Hard Starting 860

My Ford 860 starts so slow. I have had the starter reworked because I thought it was the problem. No change. I have an almost new battery. I don't want to convert to 12 volts. Should I go to an 8 volt battery? How would I charge it? What else could I do?

8 volt battery is a band-aid fix for other problems. So do you have the correct heavy battery cables as in 0 or 00?? Having a good blue/white spark that jumps a 1/4 inch gap or more is also needed.

Clean bright and tight all connections, well charged battery and shiny starter to block contact area. Report back with results.

I am just looking for suggestions right now in preparation for spring. With a windchill this morning of negative 27 degrees it is too cold to be working in an unheated shed.

Verify that ignition is spot on.

No 8V battery.

Proper 6V battery cables (no auto parts store 12V 4 gage cables).

All battery cable connections thoroughly clean and tight.
