861 fan blades

I have a 861 diesel that I just noticed has only one fan blade. Is that how they were made? Thanks Ed

1, as in its off balance on the hub and only has one protrusion?..

The fan should have 2 blades.

Replace it immediately if it has only 1, as it is out of balance and further damage will occur.

As in one peace of metal twisted in the middle, fastened to the water pump ,,, making it two blades. If not, better be making it so or problems are coming, like the one fan blade going into the radiator.

Sorry, I meant it has two blades not four. All my other IH/AC/JD have four blades. Just don't want to get on a tractor ride or parade and the thing heat up. So what I'm understanding on here is it only suppose to have two blades and not four. Thanks ED

The first diesel 100 series tractors had a two bladed fan from the factory. Later, don't know exactly when, a three bladed fan was used.Only in extreme conditions. like pulling a 3 bottom plow in 90 degree heat, would you ever need a three blader

my 971D has a two blade. It rarely comes up to full operating temp. Even when pulling my baler with wagon behind.
