I bought this last week. What is the lever on the left side? It looks like it may have something to do with the trans?

That is likely to be a Sherman combo aux transmission. Down for under drive up for over drive then you center it and pull out side ways and up for the normal gears of the tractor like it was not there. My 841 has that. The one problem is that it effects the PTO speed and can cause problem if you run something in any thing but the normal gearing of the tractor due to over or under speeding the PTO

Just don't shift it with tractor moving. Other than that just declutch the tractor and shift like the main transmission.

Thanks Royse! I like different things, like the
colors! It was redone by a local drag strip, and
used to pull some of the cars back after runs. It
was auctioned, purchased, and a year later I found
it on Craigslist.

The power steering should be a big improvement
over that of my 600, especially when plowing. Too
bad those tires are on it instead of normal lugged
tires.

"Too bad those tires are on it instead of normal lugged tires."

Those turf tires are expensive. If you find someone that wants
them they might just trade you ag tires for them.

I don't know where you're at, but they work pretty good for snow
plowing with ladder style chains on them too. The chains don't fall
between the lugs like they do on ag tires. Rough ride with chains though!

I am in Southern Oregon. We dont have much snow
here in the valleys. Not much snow in the
mountains either the last 2 years, so it will be
another tough fire season.

I had heard the turf or orchard tires were pricey.
The guy I bought it from said they cost the
raceway $1400, and were added just before it was
sold.
He may have been overstating the price.

It might be correct colors.
If it started life as an LCG model that would be correct. Not much to replacing front spindles and rear tires to make it an AP.
His yellow paint is a little too bright but generally I do like the buff/blue combo.

Hello Mike , Those tires are not Turf or Orchard , they are Firestone Utility/Industrial commonly called button tread tires and were FACTORY AVAILABLE on all Ford Industrial tractors when new and still made today up 12 ply ratings and more expensive than turf or orchard tires too . Very good wear when used on Industrial machines like Backhoes that see a lot of road time , the wide spacing between buttons cleans out in the mud and snow and traction is quite good especially with 4x4's . I have been running them for years now one Loader has over 4000 hrs combined dirt and pavement including snowplowing and I have only worn about a 1/4 inch off the tread . As for your colors the Blue and Buff are correct , the Buff is a little more yellow than it should be originally it was a little more pale or white , looks like Ford's 1969 and up yellow paint . Thanks Tony

Thanks for the info Tony. I just looked up some pricing on the tires and YIKES! Unbelievable. The ID numbers on the tractor match for Industrial. Online pictures look like the same color scheme, though as said, the yellow should have been toned down.

Crud!!! I was running a 740 this week in under and wondering why the shredder was not cutting very well. Its a new tractor I picked up last week. Now I feel really .... well not smart!

BTW I think someone changed out your front axle. The Ind should have a one piece axle not an Ag adjustable axle. Photo is of a pre '62, Red and buff instead of blue and buff.

I learned the hard way years ago also . Had the Sherman in over drive and messed up the gear box on a brush hog pretty fast. Had the 841S for a year before I found the middle range in it
